This guy knows more about Thomas Barr than most of Ireland.
The Waterford hurdler ran the 400m race of his life, last night, to give his countrymen and women some more good Olympics news to wake up to.

Barr clocked 48.39 seconds to win his semi-final in the third fastest time of all the medal hopefuls at Rio 2016. A final awaits and the entire nation is clambering aboard.
We could do worse than watching this super post-race interview Barr carried out with New Zealand’s Sport NZ. Their reporter, Andrew Mulligan, had certainly done his research on the Irish athlete.
He was aware of Barr’s race history, recent battles with injuries, his heritage and the fact that his proud family were sitting up in the stands. Barr remarked:
“Jeez, you know a lot of my story. I’m impressed, I’m impressed.”
We are too.
With no Kiwis to cheer on in Thursday’s final [4pm start], Barr could have The Land of the Long White Cloud cheering him on.
