He might have lost but this was still class
Rafa Nadal is trying to edge his way back to full sharpness after a disastrous end of 2014 saw him first struck down with a wrist injury and then appendicitis, and 2015 has not got off to a good start.
The former World Number 1 was playing Michael Berrer of Germany today in round one of the Qatar Open and promptly lost 1-6,6-3,6-1.
Despite Nadal clearly being short of his best he still managed to give us a glimpse of his talent with this inch-perfect winner down the line.
Let’s hope he’s back to his best shortly ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year in a few weeks.
