It’s hard not to like Andy Murray
The sometimes Scottish, sometime British tennis player has steadfastly refuse to pander to the wishes the Wimbledon set throughout his career, preferring instead to remain a somewhat surly
His upcoming wedding to that foul-mouthed Kim Sears could easily have turned into one of those terrible celebrity affairs with the snaps of the happy couple sold to the glossiest magazine wielding the biggest cheque.
But Murray and Sears have decided to go their own way, which means no celebs.
Even the stars of the tennis world won’t be in attendance. No Rafael Nadal, No Novak Djokovic, no Roger Federer and no, eh, Stan Wawrinka.
“Not invited,” was Djokovic’s response when asked about the wedding following his victory over Murray in the Miami Masters.
Alex Ferguson, James Corden and Sean Connery are among the many others who have tried to muscle in on Murray’s game in the past, but there’s no invites heading their way either.
In fact the most famous person in attendance (apart from Murray himself) will be Tim Henman.
“There won’t be any celebrities as such,” Murray said.
“I don’t have any celebrity friends so it wasn’t something that was planned. [The list will be] Everyone who we’re close to, people we’ve spent a lot of time with in the past but also people we see ourselves spending time with in the future. That’s how we came up with the names.”
The same way as everyone else who gets married then.
