Scenes.
Ireland secured their first medals of the Rio Olympics on Friday afternoon following a stunning performance from Paul and Gary O’Donovan.
The Cork rowers took silver in the men’s lightweight double sculls final, finishing second after a strong finish to win Ireland’s first ever Olympic medal in rowing.
The O’Donovan brothers had already secured cult status thanks to their brilliant interviews, but will now arrive back home heroes.
Social media was set alight by their stunning victory…
Massive congrats to the O'Donovan brothers. There won't be a cow milked in skibbereen for a week.

The O'Donovan brothers from Skibbereen in Co Cork have been among my favourite characters from the Games. So pleased to see them get silver.
