The boy does alright.
Rory McIlroy earns some big money for being bloody brilliant at stroking a golf ball around a course. You think of some of the biggest names in world sport but the Down native is probably ahead of them.
Forbes printed the world’s top 10 highest-paid athletes in 2017 and the names that McIlroy is ahead of are staggering.
Lewis Hamilton? Doesn’t earn as much.
Andrew Luck? Nah. They’re on the same amount.
Steph Curry? You’d have thought so… but no.
Rory McIlroy is sixth in the world’s highest-paid athletes in 2017.
The golfer is reported to be earning $50 million a year and is just one million shy of what Cristiano Ronaldo is making in endorsements.
The Real Madrid superstar is top of the list with LeBron James just behind.
Messi, Federer and Kevin Durant follow on the list before McIlroy’s name comes up. Decent enough coin.
