German darts player Gabriel Clemens nailed a 125 checkout with two bulleyes in the first set of his 2-1 win over Scot John Henderson on Friday.
Despite the brilliant checkout, Henderson still took the first set 3-2 before Clemens rallied in the second and third sets to win 3-2, 3-2.
Clemens made the semi-finals of the World Masters in 2017 before losing to BDO number one Mark McGeeney while he also reached the final of 2018 PDC Players Championship 11 where he ultimately lost to two-time world champion Gary Anderson.
Meanwhile the 45-year-old made the third round of last year’s PDC World Championship where he lost to eventual winner Rob Cross.
Previously Henderson had competed in five world championships with four first round exits and a second round defeat to Mark Webster in 2014.
Clemens will now face Michael Smith in the third round after Smith’s 3-1 win over Holland’s Ron Meulenkamp in Wednesday’s matches.
