A point proven.
Paul Pogba, for all the talk of extravagant hairdos, dabbing and whatever it is he’s posted on Instagram over the last couple of years, is a world champion. Arriving in Russia with plenty of doubters, he leaves having been one of the star performers of the World Cup, signing off by scoring France’s third in their 4-2 defeat of Croatia in the final on Sunday afternoon.
His displays during the tournament have, as Jose Mourinho put it last week, shown “maturity”. They’ve also provided a very definite answer for anyone still questioning his discipline as a midfielder (we’re looking at you, Graeme).
After full-time, as he waited for the trophy presentation on the rain-drenched pitch of Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, Pogba was seemingly captured addressing some of his critics. Cupping his ear and gesturing for people to stop the talking about him, the 25-year-old’s message was clear enough.

Pogba will now return to France to parade the trophy in Paris. After that, he’s expected to go on holiday before returning to Manchester United in time for the new season.
He becomes just the third United player to win the World Cup while at the club and the first since 1966, when their other two winners, Bobby Charlton and Nobby Stiles, were winners with England.
He also found the time to troll supporters of The Three Lions when he jokingly sang Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home) while celebrating with the World Cup trophy after the match.
😏 Pogba out here trolling England fans…
