The MVP had the last laugh, though.
The Golden State Warriors extended their unbeaten start to the season to 15-0 with a 118-105 victory over the Denver Nuggets last night, tying the record held by the 1993-94 Houston Rockets, but the game was also notable for the first of what fans will hope are many duels between reigning MVP Stephen Curry and Nuggets rookie Emmanuel Mudiay.
The 19-year-old playmaker, who skipped the college ranks to play in China last year, was taken with the seventh pick in last summer’s draft, helped contain the in-form to 19 points and just 3-8 on three-pointers, Curry’s lowest haul of the season, while chipping in with 17 points and eight assists of his own.
The highlight for Mudiay, though, will have been leaving Curry sprawling on the deck with this Curry-esque crossover and long three-pointer.

The Warriors can make the record their own by beating the Los Angeles Lakers at home tomorrow night to get to 16-0, but that would still leave them less than halfway towards the all-time winning streak of 33 games held by the 1971-72 Lakers.
