The scouts, and media, will be out in force on March 22
Like any NFL fan we love the Combine as it gives us a chance to see just what those talented college players may be able to do in the pros.
True, the 40-yard dash and the vertical leap are rather arbitary measures but it is still great fun for the fans and it is treated quite seriously by teams in player evaluation.
We were delighted to hear that the first ever Veteran Combine, for ex players, would be held this year as a more formal second chance for players to get back in the League
The likes of Michael Sam and Vince Young were already expected to attend but the big news today is that former golden boy of college football, Tim Tebow, may be joining them.
The Boston Globe say that Tebow, whose last NFL gig was ended by the New England Patriots in August 2013, has been practicing with a throwing coach in LA and he might be eyeing up a trip to Phoenix for the Combine.
With such a dearth of big name QBs in free agency and the normal draft, there are lots of teams out there looking for back ups, or even starters.
Don’t forget, Tebow went 7-4 with the Broncos in 2011 and he won a play-off game too. Now 27, time is on Tebow’s side too so we won’t rule out him getting back under centre in the NFL again.
