Pic: Think GAA training is cold? New England Patriots player has icicles on his beard after practice

Baltimore could be in for a chilly reception at Foxborough in more ways than one

NFL football in January, outdoors, looks like zero craic

Wildcard weekend is now behind us so we move to the even more exciting Divisional Playoff weekend in the NFL. All four games are pretty tasty and the visit of Baltimore to New England on Saturday night should be a doozy.

The Ravens have caused the Pats serious problems in the post season in recent years and they will arrive in Foxborough in total confidence that they can do it again after seeing off Pittsburgh last weekend.

One of the major factors to be considered on weekends like this is the weather. Outdoor games in the north of the USA at this time of the year can be miserable for players and fan and the forecast for Saturday’s game is for temperatures to sit betweeen -2 and -12 Celcius. Brrrr.

In fact, it is already freezing in Massachussets as this picture by Boston Globe reporter Ben Volin shows.

It shows Pats running back Brandon Bolden speaking to media after practice with icicles hanging off his beard. It dipped to -8 in Foxborough yesterday, so expect to see lots of this on Saturday during the game.
