NFL star and pet monkey owner gets 10-game ban for second PED violation in one year

A slap on the muscle-bound wrist

That’ll learn him.

NFL free agent LaRon Landry is unlikely to find himself a franchise for the 2015/16 season after the organisation slapped him with a 10-game ban for a Performance Enhancing Drugs violation.

Landry, who has previously played with Washington Redskins, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts, was banned for four games last year after a similar PED transgression.

As he has now been caught with his hand in the PED/cookie jar for the second time in 12 months. The ban reflects the organisation’s dissatisfaction with the whole, sorry affair. Still, the 30-year-old has avoided a lifetime ban.

As Marc Sessler, on NFL.com, declares, ‘Landry was already a questionable defender in coverage last season and hardly an ace against the run. It’s fair to wonder if his career might be over after another lengthy league-imposed ban.’

Here is an enjoyable interview with Landry, from 2013, when he discusses his pet monkey, boxing with his brothers and reveals he has never finished a work-out with his top on. The top comes off ‘when I need an edge’.
