We know what you’re thinking … “But I’ve been watching NFL clips on YouTube for ten years.”

Well sadly you were probably watching pirated material but now you can enjoy some guilt-free viewing of NFL content on the league’s brand spanking new YouTube channel that comes right in time for Super Bowl XLIX.

‘The National Football League and YouTube today announced a partnership that will deliver NFL content to fans around the world, combining the world’s most popular sports league with the world’s largest video platform. Through a newly launched official NFL channel on YouTube, and video directly viewable for Google Search users, this partnership will enable fans to engage with NFL video content on PCs, tablets, and mobile phones.’

The go-to place for NFL fans, starting this week, is YouTube.com/NFL, where you will find seven-day coverage of content such as “game previews, in-game highlights, post-game recaps as well as clips featuring news, analysis, fantasy football advice, and other select content from NFL Network and NFL.com.”

So that means we’ll be able to get all the Odell Beckham Jr catches and Richard Sherman interceptions without relying on grainy, shaky mobile phone footage.

And it will also be easier to search for NFL content through Google, who acquired YouTube in 2006, with a statement from the NFL saying:  ‘A simple Google search will display official NFL video along with related news and information all delivered to the user in one distinct box at the top of the search results. Kickoff time and broadcast information for every NFL game will also be prominently displayed in Google Search.’

The time hasn’t quite come for YouTube to be able to stream live games through their site but it’s 100% a step in the right direction.
