Boston College and Georgia Tech will do battle on Irish soil next Autumn as the Aer Lingus College Football Classic is confirmed for 3rd September, 2016, at The Aviva.
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny made the announcement this afternoon and expressed excitement at the fact that a college football game would take place in Dublin for the third time in five years.
He said: “This is great news for Irish tourism and the economy; in 2012 and again last year, we witnessed a huge surge of US visitors to our shores for the Emerald Isle Classic and the Croke Park Classic and I have no doubt, particularly given Boston College’s close links with this country, we will see another spectacular success in 2016."
The GAA fans among you will notice that the game is scheduled for the first Saturday in September which means that the 2016 All-Ireland hurling final ought to take place the very next day.
