Americans make 18-point argument why Gaelic Football is better than NFL and it is bizarre

Okay...

Conan Doherty

Don’t get us wrong, we’re flattered.

But we think this list could’ve been a lot better.

Business Insider took a risque step – considering its following – of creating a point-by-point article of why Gaelic Football is great and why it’s better than American Football.

So they grabbed the first rugby picture they could find.

The intention was admirable though – we’re now huge fans of them – but the execution was sloppy American.

Here’s a run-down of it:

1.It’s more interesting.

Simple. Followed by the classic: “It combines soccer, rugby and even basketball.”

2. You bounce the ball every four steps, then kick it to yourself.

Okay, now you’re just telling us the rules.

3. Players have more freedom when it comes to playmaking.

Good.

4. Scoring is unpredictable.

You change your mind at the last second apparently.

5. Pure speed and agility.

Agreed. Just don’t use Owen Mulligan as an example.

6. Then there’s hand-passing.

As if everything else wasn’t enough. And then there’s hand-passing…

7. Gaelic Footballers don’t get paid.

How could we leave that out?

8. No ridiculous contracts like the NFL players get.

Not to say that we wouldn’t take them.

9. You can actually see the players.

No helmets here.

10. Amazingly, spectacular plays like this are actually common.

You better believe it.

The next one is our favourite.

11. Gaelic Footballers’ skill with the ball is extraordinary.

12. Big catches.

Fair point.

13 – 17. NFL is slow, Gaelic Football isn’t. Basically.

Five points about the stop-start nature of NFL compared to the all-action Gaelic Football. They even have a pop at the half time show tradition (but who doesn’t have time for Katy Perry?).

18. We’ll be bouncing off the walls on Sunday.

True. But, again, not really a reason.

And not everyone enjoyed the article.

Thanks though, folks! We appreciate the effort. And welcome aboard.
