In BOD we trust.
Us Irish are a proud bunch but we’re a valuable bunch too and don’t you forget it.
The worth of this island would never be better demonstrated than if you sent the English, the Welsh, and the Scottish down to New Zealand without us in the summer.
Imagine Warren Gatland trying to beat the All Blacks without the Irish.
Imagine they went there without:
- Rory Best
- Tadhg Furlong
- Jack McGrath
- Conor Murray
- Johnny Sexton
- Robbie Henshaw
These boys mightn’t all start but you’d like to think that, in a normal world, they’ll find great bloody use for them.
Anyone saying Owen Farrell ahead of Sexton, leave.
Warren Gatland has already name-checked the like of Henshaw and the like of Furlong and, of course, Conor Murray.
These men are playing rugby like no other on the relevant isles but, call it innocence or call it ignorance, some people find it a little easier to forget.
Former Welsh international, Lee Byrne, made a simple mistake but a big mistake.
Consistent with his Twitter bio, the old back was giving a talk and introduced himself on the big screen as a ‘Former Wales and British Lions International’.
Great day at the @Dribuildgroup Manchester Office opening. Proud to be part of this exciting business. Thanks to all for coming. pic.twitter.com/ByB0fLs5Tg

He played for the Lions once, before getting injured in the first test, but the milking of that title isn’t the issue.
It’s the term, ‘British Lions’ – forgetting an important part of the actual team. And he wasn’t allowed to forget it.
Then: the man who represented Ireland with pure distinction; the man who elevated Ireland; the man who fought tooth and nail for the crest and the green made sure that his legacy and every other Irish legend’s legacies weren’t forgotten. He made sure Ireland wasn’t forgotten.
Step forward, Brian O’Driscoll.
Byrney you might want your visuals technician to throw in '& Irish' between 'British' and 'Lions' next time! 😏 https://t.co/xwZVtJvqCM

That’s only the start of it, Lee.

Actually, while we’re at it, why not make it Irish and British Lions?
