He may be gone but he will never be forgotten, and he will never forget.
Ronan O’Gara is back at his beloved Munster this afternoon, albeit as defence coach with rival side Racing 92.
O’Gara got a lovely round of applause from the home support at Thomond Park as he made his way out onto the pitch. Fans rose as one to acclaim their legendary out-half as he offered back a couple of sheepish waves, and a wide, proud grin.
Unfortunately for O’Gara, he then started jogging over to where the Munster players were warming up.
Old habits die hard…
A Munster victory over last year’s Top 14 champions should secure them second seeding and will guarantee a home Thomond Park quarter final, with a semi at the Aviva Stadium if they can get that far.
