WATCH: Ken Owens and CJ Stander joyfully belt out ‘Happy birthday’ for Robbie Henshaw

Henshaw didn't know how to react

Squad unity obviously isn’t a problem for Warren Gatland’s Lions on their tour of New Zealand.

The Welsh and the Irish have bonded well, that’s for sure.

It was Robbie Henshaw’s birthday on Monday and Welsh man Ken Owens and CJ Stander showcased singing talents with a rousing ‘Happy Birthday’ rendition to the Athlone man who turned 24 on Monday.

Henshaw wasn’t overly impressed with the lad’s singing, however.

“CJ Stander and Ken Owens came in with a cake, videoing it all and singing Happy Birthday but they were very out of tune. The cake was enormous, so a big thanks to everyone for that,” he said in an interview with the Lions website.

Henshaw made his debut for the Lions in their loss to the Auckland Blues last week, and he’s enjoying his birthday, and the tour so far.

“As my family have already been telling me, this is going to be the most memorable birthday I will ever have. To be on Tour and celebrating it at the same time is pretty cool! To be here as part of an elite and special group is a special place to be,” said Henshaw.

The Lions subsequently disposed of  The Crusaders on their home turf and will be hoping to continue this form against the Highlanders on Tuesday.

The Centre will get his second start for the Lions when he lines out in the 12 shirt against the Highlanders in the tourists’ fourth match of their tour of New Zealand.

Henshaw will be joined in midfield by English man Johnathan Joseph in a new look partnership.

Henshaw claimed that many of his past team-mates and GAA clubs have been sending him well wishes.

Leinster also wished their star a happy birthday with a throwback to his try against Wasps in the Champions Cup quarter-final.
