Jonny May wasn’t cut out for this craic.
He was selected by Eddie Jones to bring pace and cutting edge to the English backline.
Argentina were in town and these boys, thanks to The Rugby Championship, know how to cut loose. They like to cut loose.
England’s task of shutting the Pumas down was made even harder when Elliot Daly was sent off for tackling flanker Leonardo Senatore in the air.
Down to 14 men, England had to dig very deep to get the result. May made one try-saving tackle and nabbed himself a score in the second half in England’s 27-14 win.
What many may have missed, though, was the Gloucester wingers attempts to help out when England copped a yellow card and were down to 13 men. A man short for the scrum, May gave this flanker business a pop and packed down.
Well, he tried to.
