What a way to celebrate your first Ireland call-up

Leinster forward Jack Conan’s late defensive burst did just about enough to put Wasps’ out-half Andy Goode off a drop goal that would have won the game and left the Irish province sweating. Instead, Goode missed, right and wide, and Leinster topped their group after a 20-20 draw.

‘We should have won out there,’ said Wasps captain James Haskell after the game. ‘Leinster looked a million dollars in the first forty [minutes] but we went in at the break knowing there was another half to play.’

Leinster winger Luke Fitzgerald admitted there was a tinge of regret that his team could not hold out for the win, having been 20-6 in front at one stage.
