Treasured memories for the retiring All Black.
Win lose or draw, Saturday’s World Cup final will be Dan Carter’s last game for New Zealand and his hometown of Southbridge is preparing to celebrate his tremendous career.
Sky Sports News went along to chat to staff at his local rugby club, where the record-breaking fly-half keeps his 2011 World Cup medal and some other priceless mementoes.
Among his keepsakes is a signed Munster jersey and Ireland shirt. The 33 year old faced Ireland six times, winning every match and the jersey looks to date from Ireland’s 2012 Tour of New Zealand.
The Munster jersey is more a puzzler, as Carter never played against the province. He was on the 2008 Tour when the All Blacks played in Thomond Park, but did not feature.
He did however lend his star power to a jersey launch while in Limerick, so perhaps that is how he ended up with the booty.
