Scary stuff but, thankfully, the Leinster squad touched down, safe and sound

Leinster players and backroom staff were involved in a turbulence-hit flight from Dublin to Cardiff last night and, following two aborted landing attempts, were forced to land at Bristol Airport.

The squad were travelling to Wales for their Guinness PRO12 clash with Cardiff this afternoon on a CityJet charter. Also on-board were the Clontarf Rugby Under-12s, who are taking part in an invitational match this weekend.

Heavy cross-winds prevented the pilot from landing, twice, before a decision was made to divert to nearby Bristol. Leinster winger Dave Kearney kept a cool head, finding time to wind team-mate Ben Te’o up and record his sheer dread.

Once the team eventually made it to their Cardiff hotel, Te’o was quick to update his Instagram followers. His post is a superb mix of honesty and humour. Don’t worry Ben, plenty of time to make babies yet.
