Well this is certainly an unusual way of welcoming a team to Ireland.
Clermont Auvergne arrived into Shannon Airport in Clare earlier ahead of their clash with Munster in the Champions cup over the weekend and we imagine they were pretty bemused by the reception they received.
Members of the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park challenged various players to a mock-fight with what looks like plastic swords and accused the French top 14 side of being cowards if they did not accept the challenge of a ‘fight to the death’.
In fairness the visitors looked like they were taking it in fairly good spirits and fair play to the brave ‘knight’ who was doing most of the speaking/badmouthing in the arrivals hall.
Let’s hope Munster don’t regret the rather medieval attempt at intimidation:
