Our 10 is injured, long live our 10.
Irish supporters may have been forgiven for fretting when Ian Madigan came on for the injured Johnny Sexton.
The former Blackrock player eased those worries with an early, well-struck penalty and never looked back.
On Sunday, he will have to replicate those heroics against Argentina. At 12:36pm today, Madigan was officially installed as Ireland’s starting out-half after Sexton was ruled out.
Jamie Heaslip, Madigan’s Leinster and Ireland teammate, has no doubts that the late promotion to the starting line-up will not faze him in the slightest.
He commented, “Ian stepped in [last week] and we all kept the same game-plan. We ran stuff during the week and Ian stepped in… He stepped right in and did a good job.”
