You can always trust the Springboks to go down fighting.
You can’t, on the other hand, always rely on an interviewer to say the right thing.
Poor old Fourie du Preez undertook his mandatory post-match interview in the aftermath of South Africa’s 20-18 World Cup semi-final defeat to the All Blacks.
With his cheek horribly swollen the last thing the Springboks captain needed to hear was the journalist tell him his disappointment was “writ large on your face”. Ouch
Fair play to Du Preez, he took it in his stride, while in the Twickenham press conference room his coach, Heyneke Meyer was also showing a lot of class. Plus a surprising sense of humour, given the circumstances.
Heyneke Meyer (South Africa coach): "The 3rd/4th place play-off doesn't mean anything to me. It's like kissing your sister."

SA boss Heyneke Meyer not ruling out continuing. "I'm there to serve. We should have won this game. We had it in our hands." #RSA
