Let’s all hope this is a case of the All Blacks peaking too soon, because if they bring tries like this to the World Cup…
Fresh off their defeat by Australia in Sydney a week ago, it was fair to expect New Zealand would be hungry for revenge this morning at Eden Park.
But not even the Wallabies were prepared for a scintillating five-try display from the defending world champions, the highlight of which gave New Zealand the first-half lead.
After winning turnover ball in their own 22, the All Blacks ran from deep, with hooker Dane Coles appearing on Dan Carter’s shoulder and stepping outside full-back Adam Ashley-Cooper and sprinting to the line.
