A growing occurrence in the game, unfortunately
Four-time Heineken Cup champions Toulouse suffered their worst ever home defeat in Europe, on Sunday, as they slumped, 35-18, to Bath at Stade Ernest Wallon.
Toulouse’ talented left winger Yoann Huget scored a handy try for the hosts but, minutes into the second-half, blotted his copybook. Huget got into a scuffle with Argentine Horacio Agulla seconds after Toby Flood’s late hit on Bath fullback Anthony Watson.
The skirmish amounted to a shove to Huget’s shoulder but the French international reacted like he had been struck in the chin by an anvil. The incident went to a video replay but, sensibly, play was waved on without the flashing of any cards.
Huget, on January 21, was given a warning by the EPCR citing commissioner. The warning was for ‘an act contrary to good sportsmanship in the 43rd minute in that he deliberately feigned an injury’. Spot on bureaucrats, spot on.
