Not only did he prove to be rugby’s soundest human, Sonny Bill Williams lit up the World Cup with an array of offloads, passes, tackles and scores.
The versatile All Black was generally used as an impact sub by New Zealand and, boy, did he make an impact.
Williams came off the bench in the World Cup final to set up Ma’a Nonu for the game-breaking try. He managed the assist thanks to two sublime offloads in the space of 20 seconds. He made the space and Nonu did the rest.
World Rugby has paid tribute to Williams’ on-field exploits by releasing this excellent compilation of SBW’s best bits. The video features most of Williams’ 12 offloads – the most of any player at the World Cup.
Unstoppable.
