A fitting end to two legendary careers.
Dan Carter and Richie McCaw bowed out of test rugby in style as New Zealand overcame Australia to retain the Rugby World Cup.
The New Zealand fly-half was on-hand to score two conversions, four penalties and a drop goal as the All-Blacks, while McCaw signs off as the first captain to lead his country to successive World Cup crowns.
Understandably, Twitter was full of praise for the legendary pair.

I doubt we will see many, if any, better players than this man. https://t.co/RwzXZygCiX

A stat worth repeating. Richie McCaw has played in 32% of All Blacks victories since 1903…

Carter, Carter, Carter, Carter – just so that you know – and we won't be able to say it after today.

McCaw interviewed. Australian fans, all of whom have stayed, applauding.

New Zealand the first back-to-back world champs. By definition surely the game's greatest team. And no player finer than Dan Carter. 34-17.
