Toulon want to sue supporters involved in Delon Armitage row

C'est incroyable

Someone needs to tell Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal to ‘put away the shovel’

Not content with having to deal with a ban to one of their best players for three months, now Toulon want to dig a bigger hole for themselves.

Delon Armitage won’t see action on a rugby pitch until March after he was banned for verbally abusing two supporters during the clash with Leicester Tigers last weekend.

But the top 14 side have reacted angrily to the ban handed down on Wednesday, and now intend taking the matter further by possibly suing the two supporters for false testimony.

The club president told La Provence newspaper  ‘It’s incomprehensible. It’s based on two allegations. There’s no formal evidence, no official documents, not even TV images to attest the veracity of these accounts. We may even sue those two English supporters, for their false testimonies.’

Oh dear. An already ugly incident is now now about to get very very ugly, like cauliflower ear ugly.

Toulon are set to appeal the ban and Armitage may  yet still see a reduction.

It’s been a ban few days for the club with Martin Castrogiovanni also receiving a suspended four game ban for his outburst at Leicester’s Richard Cockerhill when he described him as a  ‘f***ing c***’.

‘And Happy Christmas to you too Martin’ is not what Richard responded with.

Maybe the club should invest in a swear jar for their next match as it might pay for any potential legal fees involved in suing the two supporters
