Sean O’Brien drops some pretty worrying comments about potential move abroad

Tullow Tank open to leaving Leinster

Sean O’Brien hinted that signing any new deal with the IRFU is not a certainty.

The Tullow Tank’s contract is up next June and he has yet to begin discussions with the IRFU over a new deal.

O’Brien told the Irish Independent that he will consider all his options before putting pen to paper on a new contract. Although he admitted staying with Leinster would be preferable, he revealed that a move to a foreign club might be difficult to turn down.

“Leinster have something special that I’ve been a part of for a long time and you really want to stay there and be part of that group.

“That’s where my mind is, but when contracts are being talked about, you have to do what’s best for you.”

“It is very attractive to go over somewhere foreign, to a different club.”

O’Brien will be hoping Leinster’s Champions Cup campaign starts off on the right track this weekend as they welcome Wasps to the RDS on Sunday afternoon.
