Only a rugby anorak would spot the subtle change in Australia’s new jersey

On first glance, most people wouldn't notice

Ben Kiely

Australia’s new home jersey looks exactly the same as all their other efforts… on first glance.

When you think of the Wallbies shirt, you think of two colours – the green and the gold.

That goldish colour that assaults the eyes first, sort of looks like the colour that genuine ‘Folex’ you bought turned your arm when you accidentally missed the mark putting in your eye drops. (Apologies for any offence caused to the Aussies, but it’s a bold colour. Not everyone’s going to be a fan.) However, we admire the consistency.

It’s a classic scheme, it’s iconic, the team have used it since forever and surprise, surprise, the latest shirt looks exactly the same as every other year… except for the fact that it doesn’t.

This is the part where the rugby fanatics all laugh into their screens as they’ve spotted the glaringly obvious change. If you know your shit, you will instantly realise that an entire colour has been dropped entirely.

White has been the third colour on the jersey since Asics secured their contract in 2014. However, as you will notice in the image above, it has vanished from the 2017 shirt.

Don;t say we didn’t warn you about how subtle the change was.
