Robbie Henshaw is a doubt for Ireland’s next game in the Rugby World Cup.
The Connacht centre sat out today’s training at St George’s Park, with Ireland coach Ritchie Murphy saying the team are “not quite sure” if Henshaw, who is recovering from a hamstring strain, will be ready for the Pool D clash against Romania.
“Robbie trained reasonably hard today, he did a lot of running and a lot of passing,” Murphy said.
“Again he’s in a position where he’s returning to full fitness and he’s very close. Whether Robbie will be ready for this week we’re not quite sure at this moment, but we’re hoping that he will.
“He trained quite a lot today and he’ll probably have to train back with the team in our next training session, which is on Friday.”Johnny Sexton, Peter O’Mahony and Iain Henderson also sat out training.
Sexton suffered a knock during Ireland’s comfortable win over Canada, but Murphy said the fly-half’s absence from training today was “nothing serious.”
While both O’Mahony and Henderson are expected to be fit for Sunday’s game.
