He was having a fine game, up to that moment.
Crusaders will have to plan without New Zealand captain Richie McCaw for their Super Rugby clash against high-flying Wellington Hurricanes, this weekend.
The back-rower copped a KO blow midway through the second half of Crusaders’ win over Auckland Blues.
McCaw dived to make a tackle but his head connected with the hip of Blues fullback Lolagi Visinia and he hit the deck.
He struggled to his feet soon after but was taken out of the game.
Crusaders doctor Deb Robinson confirmed to reporters that McCaw, who had ‘a mild headache’ on Monday, will only attempt to resume contact on Friday, too late for the ‘Canes game.
