There are so many fantastic Ireland vs. Wales Six Nations memories.
And while we fans like to look back fondly at the wars that have taken place between the two sides, it might be a little difficult for players to remember them so with such fondness.
One such incident took place in the 2014 championship when Scott Williams ‘introduced’ himself to Brian O’Driscoll with the hardest hit of Drico’s career.
In his biography, the former Ireland skipper revealed that the famous hit from Williams was recorded at an insane 27 Gs.
To put that in context, the G Force of a fighter jet turn is around 9 Gs so the tackle was three times as powerful.
To mark Ireland’s Six Nations game against Wales on Sunday, O’Driscoll saw fit to share a picture exhibiting the mark left when he collided with the ground after the tackle and it looks absolutely horrible.
Oddly enough, it was Williams who came off second best and he left the pitch nursing an injured shoulder.
“With his shoulder, there’s a bit of soreness there,” Wales coach Warren Gatland said of Williams. “It’s in a bit of a sling at the moment. We need to get him checked out… I haven’t had a good look at it yet but it is a pretty physical game. You do get injuries every now and then.”
Never been in a car crash but that can't have been far off one!! Came off second best though…… https://t.co/TULQp0TPQn
