Rassie Erasmus admits there is no huge amount of fondness for Saracens yet he was cheering them on today.

The Munster director of rugby was well aware of the knock-out draw permutations ahead of the European champions’ quarter final tie against Glasgow Warriors. A Saracens win would mean Munster would get a semi final at the Aviva Stadium and that is exactly what happened.

Warriors made a fist of it after Lee Jones’ try early in the second half but Saracens responded in brutish fashion to run out 38-13 victors.

The result means Munster will host Saracens at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on the weekend of April 22-23. The likelihood is that Munster’s game will be on Saturday with a kick-off time of either 3pm or 5pm.

Leinster’s semi-final against Clermont will take place in France and should be on Sunday, April 23. EPCR will officially confirm the dates and times after a meeting with broadcasters, which is likely to be on Monday.

Sky Sports are set to show Clermont v Leinster while BT Sport will broadcast Munster v Saracens.

Erasmus believes his Munster squad will not lack for belief when they take on the English juggernauts. He said:

“We’ve managed to get to the semi final.

“We’d be stupid not to try win that semi final and see if we can go one better.”

Both sides are in top form this European season but only one will reach the final in Edinburgh on May 13.
