Bah Humbug to this latest update from Thomond Park
Bad news comes threes and Munster have certainly got their fill of that today with injuries to key personnel confirmed after the weekend’s action.
Gerhard van den Heever has suffered a dreaded cruciate injury to his knee and it looks like his season could be over as he will undergo surgery later this month.
Dave Kilcoyne is also out for the next six to eight weeks due to a knee injury sustained in the loss to Clermont at Thomond Park two weeks ago.
And to compound Foley’s troubles, Johnny Holland tore his hamstring in the B&I Cup clash against Nottingham and even the most optimistic of diagnosis’ is for a May 2015 return.
We wouldn’t be surprised if all that depressing news led to Christmas being cancelled by everyone down on Shannonside at this stage.
The province have also issued an update on Mike Sherry who has been out of action due to a shoulder injury and has now come through a third operation to try and fix the problem.
One player who is is still being assessed is Andrew Smith, who received a knock to his knee at the end of the loss to Clermont on Sunday. An update on his progress is expected towards the weekend.
Munster are back in Guinness PRO12 action as they face Glasgow in Cork on Saturday night.
