The Munster boys are shifting tin all over UL.
Munster’s pro14 campaign is in full swing at the moment and the lads are in full flight in the gym. Next up is Gloucester at Thomond Park on Saturday and Johann van Graan’s men are lifting it out of it in preparation.
Fresh from a draw with Exeter in the Champions Cup on Saturday, there’s no rest for the Munster boys as they were straight back to work on Monday.
The province shared a video of the lads getting to work in their gym and they weren’t sparing themselves.
There were a number of lads belting out the one legged squats with weights, while Peter O’Mahony was videoed performing his jump squat routine.
The Munster captain is well renowned for his leg power, flexibility and spring – these are obviously a massive part of his game seeing as he’s the man who goes up for the lineouts and he’s also often the man in the air under the restarts.
Mike Ross told us a couple of years ago that O’Mahony holds the CMJ (Counter movement jump) record in the Ireland squad, having jumped 63cm from a standing start.
His leap, from three seconds in the below video is fairly nifty.
Straight back to work this morning as we prepare for the big Champions Cup clash against English heavyweights Gloucester at Thomond Park this Saturday!

The video also shares clips of Arno Botha performing his one legged squat routine – our sources tells us that the South African is well clear of the rest of the Munster lads in terms of the amount he can squat, with his max in the high 200s.
Alex Wootton was focusing on his hip thrusts while Jaco Taute was doing some rows. CJ Stander, who isn’t far off Botha in the squat standings, was lifting heavy too.
There are few rest days when you’re a Munster rugby player.
