Anthony Foley does not have the luxury of pining for what might have been.
Munster were dealt three serious injury blows in recent weeks but have moved swiftly to bulk out their squad.
Captain Peter O’Mahony is not expected back until the new year while prop Stephen Archer only recently underwent surgery and will be in the stands for the coming months. Added to that was Wednesday’s retirement by 28-year-old fullback Felix Jones, following another serious neck injury.
Munster have already brought in Uruguayan prop Mario Sagario for Archer and, this morning, confirmed the short-term signings of two other players.
Sean Doyle has been signed from the ACT Brumbies for three months. The Australian born flanker played 24 times for Ulster, last season, but returned home for a Super Rugby stint.
He can play either openside or blindside and will return to the Brumbies for the 2016 Super Rugby season.
The new fullback is Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino, who will start for Argentina against South Africa in Friday’s World Cup ‘bronze medal’ match
The 29-year-old played 15 times for Cardiff Blues last season and has had stints at Oyannax, Montpellier and Leicester Tigers. He has been capped 47 times for los Pumas and has also played Sevens rugby for his country.
