Man admits to punching wife of All Blacks star in the face

There are dumb moves and there are DUMB moves

Robert Moka was enraged by a traffic incident but admits he went way, way too far with his response.

The 46-year-old Omahu native told the Manukau District Court, earlier today, he was in shock when he punched Rachelle Faumuina, wife of All Blacks prop Charlie Faumuina, in the face.

The violent incident occurred on October 23, 2014 in Auckland. Faumuina, claims Moka, hit his car and, after a verbal altercation, then clipped his daughter, Aroha Kahui, as she was driving off. For her part, Faumuina thought she had merely hit Moka’s wing mirror and denies clipping Kahui.

Moka’s legal team say Kahui was knocked unconscious in the traffic incident and spent a week in hospital.

At the time, as Faumuina drove off, Moka jumped into his car and pursued her. He forced her to pull over, the court learned, before approaching the drivers’ door and punching her in the head.

As reported by Stuff, Moka told the court:

“I punched her in the face. I was in shock, that’s why I hit her in the head.

“I yelled and screamed, ‘Hey you f***ing b**** you just about killed my daughter and you ran away.

“It was stupid, it was a stupid move. But I’ve done it, I’ve owned it.”

On Wednesday, in court, Faumuina claimed Moka and Kahui had told her they would ‘punch my baby out of my stomach’.

Moka denies this and another claim that he threatened Faumuina by saying he was ‘gang related’. The trial continues.

Charlie Faumuina made his All Blacks debut in 2012, has 33 Test caps and, last October, helped his country regain the World Cup.
