Leinster to face Toulon or Wasps should they survive hot Bath

The Blues picked up a home semi-final after a dramatic day of rugby

Neil Treacy

Leinster have been given a potentially nightmare draw, should they overcome Bath in the Champions Cup quarter final in April.

Matt O’Connor’s men will be at home to the Premiership side in the last 8, but should they win it, they’ll face a likely trip to France to face Toulon.

The other semi final will see the winner of Clermont and Northampton having a home country advantage against either Racing Metro or Saracens.

Leinster fans survived secured their home quarter final tie after a nervy afternoon, while Champions Toulon were paired with Wasps.

Clermont’s 18-6 win against Saracens gave them first place in Pool 1 and a third seed overall, leaving them with a tasty looking quarter final at home to the Northampton Saints, while Saracens face a trip to top seed Racing Metro in the last 8, although many would argue they’ve dodged a bullet by failing to pick up a losing bonus point, which would have resulted in a trip to Toulon.

The quarter finals will be played on the weekend of 3/4/5 April, while the semi final ties will be two weeks later.
