Johnny Sexton’s replacement won’t stick around to battle for his place at Leinster

Reports this morning are suggesting that Jimmy Gopperth will be looking to move on from Leinster at the end of the season with an English Premiership side his likely destination.

The New Zealander was signed as a replacement for Johnny Sexton by Joe Schmidt and now looks set to be replaced by the guy he replaced in the first place.

Still with us? Good.

The out-half hasn’t firmly established himself as the prime play-maker that many hoped he would, and with the emergence of Ian Madigan as a 10, it seems natural for Gopperth to move on.

The 31 year-old is being linked with Wasps and could be a replacement for the outgoing Andy Goode.
