Leinster forced into late rejig after Rob Kearney hamstring twang

Not a bad deputy

The last thing Leo Cullen wanted.

Isa Nacewa’s plans for a weekend off, and out of the Dublin rain, have been scuppered.

The Aucklander has been drafted in at fullback after Leinster were hit with a late set-back before this evening’s Guinness PRO12 game with Ulster.

A Leinster statement, released this afternoon, reads:

‘Kearney felt tightness in his hamstring after the Captain’s Run yesterday in the RDS and despite treatment yesterday afternoon and again this morning,

‘Head Coach Cullen in consultation with the medical team and with Rob himself, felt it prudent not to risk him for the game this evening.’

Kearney tweaked his hamstring in a league fixture with Scarlets and has not featured since. The 29-year-old missed the province’s two Champions Cup defeats, to wasps and Bath respectively.
