Israel Dagg was not the most popular man on the pitch last Saturday but the Leinster fans in the Aviva Stadium for the All Blacks’ 21-9 victory over Ireland won’t hesitate to forgive the winger if he signs with the province.
Dagg, who also regularly plays at full back, was responsible for CJ Stander’s early departure at the weekend as the New Zealander failed to wrap his arms and led with his shoulder in a sickening hit on the Munster man.

But, apparently, he could be on his way to Leinster as the Irish Independent report that the province have entered the very competitive race for the 28-year-old’s signature and that Dagg met with Leinster officials while in Dublin last week.
The World Cup winner may be the man to replace Zane Kirchner, whose days with Leinster are thought to be coming to an end, but Dagg is so sought after that the deal is far from done.
Dagg, who has 60 caps for New Zealand, is currently with the Crusaders and the report also notes that any potential move to Leinster would require approval from the IRFU.
Added to the undoubted on-pitch impact that Dagg would bring to Cullen’s side is the massive statement of intent that would accompany the acquisition of such a superstar name.
But we wouldn’t recommend supporters get too excited just yet as several Top 14 clubs are also said to be chasing the versatile back.
