Johnny Sexton’s involvement in Ireland’s crucial Pool D clash against France ended early.
The Irish fly-half was forced off with an injury after less than 30 minutes after being on the receiving end of a devastating hit from Louis Picamoles.
Sexton fell to the ground clutching his abdomen and began receiving treatment on the pitch. After a few minutes, it became apparent that his game was over and he appeared to be wiping away tears as he hobbled over to the touchline. There are also reports that the Leinster man was vomiting on the pitch after the massive hit.
Ian Madigan came on as areplacement for Sexton and immediately nailed a penalty to give Ireland a 9-6 lead.
