There is no man that typifies Connacht Rugby like John Muldoon.
The Portumna man bleeds green and he empties the tank every single time he takes to the pitch for his beloved province.
Take a look at his post-match interview when he his side won the PRO 12 last year.
It tells you everything you need to know about how much this club means to him.
Unfortunately, he has had to preside over a disappointing season this year for the men from the west.
Pat Lam’s side still have plenty to play for but they will likely end up in a daunting playoff against a French and an English side.
This looks more likely after their defeat to the Glasgow Warriors at the weekend in a sun-kissed Scotstoun.
In what was a highly attritional affair which had its fair share of off-the-ball incidents, Connacht were unable to claim any points after losing 35-24.
All the more frustrating was that they were leading at half time.
Muldoon scored Connacht’s second try of the game in the first half and there was no stopping him when he builds up this head of steam.
Muldoon had Tiernan O’Halloran outside him who was screaming for the ball but you just know that Muldoon is always going to back himself in these type of situations.
And rightly so, the evidence is right there.
Peter Horne hadn’t a hope of stopping the bulldozing 34-year-old.
O’Halloran can have few complaints that he didn’t get the ball but he still wanted clarification from his captain as they walked back to the halfway line after the score.
Thankfully this footage appeared on Reddit.
O’Halloran: “You weren’t passing that were you…?”
Muldoon: “…..No!”
There was never any doubt in his mind.
