Italy 13-13 France
Italy were denied a famous Six Nations win by the width of the post on Sunday afternoon.
Italian fly half Paolo Garbisi hit the post with the last kick of the game but only after some unprecedented drama.
Garbisi’s kicking routine was severely disrupted as, with fifteen seconds left on the shot-clock, the ball fell off his tee, forcing him to rush the crucial kick.
Italy were left heartbroken as his last-gasp effort missed the target by the narrowest of margins.
France had been reduced to 14 men when centre Jonathan Danty was sent off on the bunker review system just before half-time.
Referee Christophe Ridley sent the Frenchman off after he made direct head-to-head contact with Italy’s Juan Ignacio Brex.
France had led by 10-3 at half-time but Italy were buoyed by the red card and they thundered back into the game on 70 minutes thanks to a try from talisman Ange Capuozzo.
But the biggest drama was yet to come…
