Ireland fans can’t believe two exciting talents have missed out on the Lions

Very, very unlucky

Patrick McCarry

Look, we can’t be too upset that a few quality Ireland players have missed out on the Lions squad. But….

Warren Gatland named a 41-man British & Irish Lions squad, this afternoon, to travel to New Zealand in search of a rare series victory.

16 English players made the squad while there are 12 Welshmen, 11 Ireland stars and just two Scots included.

Four Irish players are Lions veterans while there are seven newcomers to the honorary squad.

We can’t complain. That’s what many will say at least.

However, fans of certain players felt the need to vent some frustration before we all come together to cheer on mission improbable against the world champion All Blacks.

While the names of Donnacha Ryan, Keith Earls, Devin Toner and Jamie Heaslip were mentioned, two Irish players featured on timelines across the country.

Zebo fans, it is worth recalling that he did not make the initial 2013 squad before he was called up due to injuries.
