Ireland’s odds to sweep November Series show how highly they are now regarded

You could get Ireland at 10/1 to beat the All Blacks in Chicago. One Kiwi bookmakers went so far as to list them at 14/1.

Despite the 111 years of hurt, in a two-horse race those are generous odds.

One New Zealander was definitely cursing Ireland’s historic victory over the All Blacks as he lost out on $100,000.

Ireland have now gone from such high odds to win one game to only slightly higher ones to claim a November Series clean sweep – that is, beat Canada, Australia and New Zealand again.

Joe Schmidt’s side are now 12/1 with Ladbrokes to win all three of their remaining internationals this month.

First up will be a clash with Canada on Saturday, where victory for the Boys In Green looks a foregone conclusion. In the handicap betting, Ireland -38 points is priced at 10/11. Hayley O’Connor of Ladbrokes said:

“Confidence for Ireland is sky high, tickets for our next meeting with the All Blacks are like hens teeth, and speculation has turned to whether we’ll be riding the crest of the wave this November. It’s a big ask but we’re expecting plenty of takers at 12/1.”

The bookmakers has also revised odds for Ireland to win the 2017 Six Nations – 7/2 from 5/1 – while they are now 9/1 to claim a Grand Slam, down from 10/1.

You can also get odds of 4/1 for Ireland to be the dominant force in Warren Gatland’s starting XV for the first Lions Test against summer.
