Munster have signed former South Africa Under 20 star Pat Howard from Western Province on a three-month deal.

Injuries to backs Keith Earls and Cian Bohane, and Tyler Bleyendaal have forced Munster to dip into the international market.

Munster head coach Anthony Foley commented, ‘With players ruled out due to injury and a few other niggles we want to make sure we have a full spread available to us before we enter the next crucial period and Howard can provide that additional support.’

The 22-year-old centre made Currie Cup debut against Free State Cheetahs in August 2012 and has made 11 appearances in the competition. He appeared for his team in an exhibition match against Saracens in London at the weekend.
