The residents of the wider Canterbury region will be well used to this but it may have come as a jolt to Lions players and their travelling support.
GeoNet has reported an earthquake measuring a force of 4.1 in the Christchurch region late on Saturday night [New Zealand time].
The quake occurred at a depth of 21 kilometres underground and caused some shaking and minor disruptions 15 kilometres west of downtown Christchurch, where the Lions had earlier beaten the local Crusaders side.
As reported by Stuff, shaking may have taken place in Akaroa, Amberley, Arthur’s Pass, Ashburton, Cheviot, Christchurch, Culverden, Geraldine, Methven, Oxford and surrounding areas.
Earthquakes and tremors have become quite frequent in the area ever since a couple of giant quakes rocked the area in 2010. The touring Lions side paid tribute to the victims of those tragic events earlier in the week.
It was a privilege to be at the Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial to pay our respects. Thanks to all who met and spoke with us. pic.twitter.com/ALTFvBvN77

Hours before the quake was registered, the Lions had defeated Crusaders 12-3 at Rugby League Park in Christchurch.
The squad leave for Dunedin on Sunday where they will play The Highlanders in the next tour game.
